In 1961, Saviem announced a promising alliance with Henschel. The period that followed, from 1962 to 1964, was to be decisive for the Blainville-based manufacturer, whose future was at stake. It saw the failure of the alliance, which was far from having the desired effect, but also the presentation of new, emblematic models that were to become symbols of the brand: on the one hand, the small S 5 and S 7, whose cabs were to be found on countless models well into the 1980s, and on the other, the JM 170 and JM 200, which were to help forge the image of Saviem's top-of-the-range models.
Alongside them, a large number of trucks and tractors will flourish, ranging from self-hitching tractors to crane carriers, rail-road tractors, forestry tractors and export models for Europe, testifying to Saviem's determination to increase production by being present in all markets.
