Almost bankrupt at the end of the 1940s, Unic was bought by Henri-Théodore Pigozzi in 1949 and integrated into the Simca group in 1952.
From then on, the new boss did not hesitate to make the most of his acquisition. Thanks to massive investment and drastic reorganization, the company was able to develop a new high range that would be appreciated by users and restore its image. Models featuring the new Etrave cab were constantly improved, as were the chassis of the small range, and earned a glowing reputation with the famous Cols series launched in 1956. Production increased tenfold in ten years...
This new special issue tells the story of this renaissance.
