Series: Special issue N°76 - Les transports Leyx
(pages: 84)
Transport Robert Leyx occupies a special place in the French special transport landscape. The company started out in industrial goods packaging, before moving into heavy haulage. In the 1960s, it moved into special transport, thanks to a contract signed with Podain. From then on, Les transports Leyx was responsible for transporting the excavators built by the Plessis-Belleville-based manufacturer. In order to rapidly acquire the equipment needed for the job, Robert Leyx distinguished itself by renting. In 1972, the company moved into exceptional transport, founding its first Willème P.R. In 1974, the company was taken over by the Scales group and renamed Scalex. It was under this new banner that some of the largest convoys ever built in France were built. Bought back by Scalex in 1987, the company continues to grow, and is still going strong today. This special issue devoted to Leyx transports is the first part of this epic story.
